(Thetimesofcapital ) June 13, 2021 New Zealand have defeated hosts England in the two-match series after chasing down a target of 38 runs to win the second Test at Edgbaston. New Zealand dismissed England for just 122 runs in the second innings and then chased down the target with eight wickets to spare. This is New Zealand’s first Test series win in England since 1999. The first Test of the series at the Lord’s ended in a draw.New Zealand will now play India in the World Test Championship final in Southampton on June 18th.

New Zealand beat England by 8 wickets and take the second Test and with that the series 1-0.It was coming and if the third day at Lord’s wasn’t washed out, New Zealand could’ve taken the series 2-0 given their dominance throughout the series. At Edgbaston, despite making six changes, they’ve outplayed England who seemed clueless. They had themselves to blame with the dropped catches and some poor batting in the second innings, but take nothing away from New Zealand, whose bowlers were outstanding. The bowlers did their job in the first innings as did the batsmen, setting up the game beautifully for a good finish. Although in their chase of 38 they lost two wickets, stand-in skipper Tom Latham hit the winning runs to take New Zealand to only theirthird series win in England, and the firstsince 1999
