An era begins: Florida Panthers land Matthew Tkachuk from Calgary

The last Friday night news dump was the Florida Panthers acquiring star forward Matthew Tkachuk in a blockbuster deal with the Calgary Flames.
Just after 11 pm. In South Florida, the first tweets popped up that the Panthers were indeed the winners of the Takachuk Sweepstakes—a contest that was in the works for the last week or so but went public Wednesday.
Tkachuk, 24, is one of the most dynamic forwards in the entire league and gives the Panthers a fresh look at their top forward lines and potentially a new partner for Sasha Barkov for the next eight years.
Yes, eight years.
As with Barkov's new eight-year, $80 million deal this season, so does the eight-year, $76 million contract agreed with the Takachuk Panthers when the deal was finalized.
Therefore, the Panthers decided to give the money that was supposed to make Huberdeau to Takachuk - a powerful skater who can score from all over the ice and, it should be noted, is almost five years younger than Huberdeau.
